Personal Statement
Me as a Hockey Player:
I am a hard worker and constantly determined to go out and give 110% of my game. I have a coach that told me to always look at every time I step on the ice as if it could possibly be my last. I like to do this so that I live with no regrets. I work hard - and I may not play flawless each and every game. We all have off days and I am not perfect, but I try my very best. I am very passionate about hockey and I play with heart. I try to share this passion with my enthusiasm and support of my team mates on the ice and I hope that my determination and dedication leads me to great success personally and most importantly, success for my team!
Me as a Student:
I like to look at this question as the best ways to describe me - both strengths and weaknesses. If I had to make a list of ideas about me that could best describe me, I think that I should probably start with the weaknesses so that I end on a high note. I do have dyslexia so I know that sometimes school can be frustrating to me. I am not the most organized student, so that is a goal of mine to get better in that so that it can lead to my success in life. I am very determined to be successful and therefore I think that good words to describe me are just that – determined, focused and dedicated. I show this in all areas of my life. I think the word perseverance is also a good description of me and who I am. I am compassionate and kind to others, and I have a strong passion for what I believe in. I am confident in net as a goaltender in hockey and have been described as the kid who plays with more heart than most who play the game professionally. I am proud of who I am and my determination to never, ever give up on what my goal is. I think that makes me who I am today. I may have problems in schooling that people could cut me down for, but I do my best and I know that I am a very talented goaltender so I just have to hope people give me a chance to prove myself to them that I can do it!
Personal Statements from Coaches & Players:
Coach Craig Johnson
"Brandon has improved his game significantly because of his work ethic and his dedication to improving his skills"
Dylan Skule
"Playing with Brandon has really been awesome. I got to see him grow not only as a goalie but as a student and person all around. He was shy at first but soon came out of his shell to what he is now: a humble, strong-willed athlete that is driven to achieve. Very strong work ethic and very passionate about the game. It was great playing in front of him as a D and having him lead us to a National Championship."
