Personal Statement
Since I started playing hockey at the age of 9 I have been working hard to get to where I want to be. As I am from France I first started my hockey career in my hometown (Chamonix, France). I played for my town (Chamois de Chamonix) and Hockey 74, which were both very good club team for our age group. At the time my goal was to be apart of the French national team and as I worked with my club, I reached that goal. On the side of my regular season I first started to play for the U16 national team. After two years with the U16, I moved on to the U18 team. However playing for the national team became difficult as I made the hard decision to move to the United States in order to play at the college level.
In France it is almost impossible to have a good education and play hockey at the same time, so I decided to move to the U.S., because there, I knew it was possible. I first started at Lawrence Academy (Groton MA) where I played on the Varsity team my freshman, sophomore year and was enrolled in the English Second Language program. There I improved tremendously my speaking and writing skills. During both my two years at this school I maintained a GPA above 3.3. I then decided to transfer schools and went to Pomfret School (Pomfret CT) where I repeated my sophomore year and completely integrated the mainstream courses. My sophomore year I cumulated a GPA of 3.4 and so far this year (Junior year) have had a 3.83. On top of being on the varsity hockey team for the past two years at Pomfret I have also been on the varsity soccer team.
I am a very physical defenseman who works and battles for the puck every shift. I am currently on the first D-pair and am a penalty kill specialist. During the past four years in the U.S. I have grown tremendously on and off the ice, using free time to better myself as an athlete in the weight room and using ice time to better myself as a hockey player. From the beginning I have aspired to play at the collegiate level and I think that by keeping my hard work in the classroom and on and off the ice I will achieve my goal.
