Ever since I strapped on my first skate, I knew that this was the sport I was destined to play. I have always kept the ultimate goal in mind of playing for a college team, and then excel to the next level. This would be an opportunity which I would not take for granted. The position of goalie, for me, is a great fit. I excel when under pressure. And a goalie is ALWAYS under pressure.
I am a team leader both on and off the ice. Even though I am a goalie, I have had several teammates ask me to be a team captain on more than one occasion. I am very encouraging towards my team (both on and off the ice). I communicate to my teammates during games and practices, and I am highly respected by my team, my coaches, the officials, and opposing teams. I know that I am very coachable, work hard on the ice, off the ice, and in the classroom, and that I would not be a disappointing recruit for any school. One the ice, whether in a practice setting, camp setting, or in a game – I give 110%+ at all times.
In the classroom, I am an outstanding student. I study and work hard to maintain a high GPA. I volunteer at local youth hockey camps and at a local animal shelter.
I want to attend a college that is a good fit for me in the classroom and on the ice. Ideally, it would be a college that can push me both academically and athletically where there is a high level of competition and skill. I am open to all options as I believe there are many great schools.
I hope to become a great role model in all facets of academics and athletics to my friends and also to upcoming youth, as well as make my mom and my sister proud of me and my accomplishments.
