Personal Statement
I have been playing travel hockey for over 11 years. Over the years, my parents had me try other sports, but none of them could compare to the greatest sport in the world "Hockey." I love the game so much, I have dedicated my life to it. Over the last 7 years, I have lived in south Atlanta, where the nearest rink is over 60 miles away. My daily agenda started with school until 3:45pm, then leave from the bus stop to get to the rink by 6pm. I would be at the rink for dry land and on ice until 9pm, then back into the car to get home by 11pm. Weekends consisted of tournaments 2-3 times a month. Schoolwork has also been a priority and I have maintained a 3,8 GPA while playing Tier I travel hockey. This is my chosen lifestyle and I want to continue my dream by going to school and playing defense for a Division I hockey program.
If you talk to my coaches, what would they say? Competitiveness: Doesn't stop working and wins the battles. Vision: Sees the ice well, reads plays and makes good decisions. A "solid" defenseman that rarely makes a mistake. Leadership: leads by example, works hard, encourages teammates and respects and listens to his coaches. Development: each year shows improvement and progress focused on skating and basic skills.
I am committed and have the desire to continue my development and compete at a high level. I would welcome opportunities that help achieve my goal of playing division I hockey.
Hockey is not who I am, but it will have a great influence on who I will become!
