Jake Culp '18 Recruiting Profile

I have been playing hockey since the age of 7, and since the moment I stepped on the ice, nothing has captivated me more. The love I have for the game has carried me to the point I am at now.

As a hockey player, I keep myself working to become stronger overall, on both ends of the ice. Along within the game, I always aim to improve my skills as a player.

The improvement of my skills and strengths as a hockey player has been evident too. In the past two seasons, playing with the Leafs 15U/16U Central states teams, I've scored 63 points in 97 games.

Not only was my improvement evident in numbers, it was in leadership as well. On the 15U team I was a team captain and I was one of the leaders on the 16U team.

As a hockey player, I embrace a leadership role in my play as well. I work to be a strong player on both ends of the ice, offensively and defensively. I love passing the puck, helping my teammates succeed. I excel seeing the ice and making the right play for my team, I take pride in the effort and ability I work within the corners and in other dirty areas. I take hits and checks and other abuse to help the team be successful.

Not only on the rink but in the classroom and community I am a leader as well. I have a 3.55 unweighted GPA and a 4.02 weighted. In the community, I actively have volunteered in events and helped on the ice with younger hockey players in the past as well.

Over the spring I competed in the Pre Draft Combine in Niagara, NY and the Pre Draft Showcase in Boston, MA. As attention from other teams in Juniors and other levels has increased, I have continued to embrace the future of my hockey career and I'm excited to continue to work to improve as a hockey player.
