Personal Statement
Securing the starting goaltending job my 8th-grade year and the first year for our high school hockey program was a highlight for me. I grew extensively as an athlete that first season. Our team, however, endured a tremendous amount of adversity, winning only 4 of 24 games and finishing last in the state. It was tough, but that experience helped set me on a path to overcome challenges, work hard, and be the best goaltender I could be.
I was fortunate to win the starting goalie position again for my freshman through junior seasons. As well as begin playing with my younger brother. Even though we didn’t bring home any trophies throughout the seasons, I learned the values of teamwork, sacrifice, leadership, and commitment as well as the effort it takes to compete with the best teams throughout the league.
I’m looking for a program that will embody these values as well as be a great fit athletically and academically. I feel I not only have the talent to compete on a junior or a college team, I also have the desire and work ethic to step into a position, fit well into a program, and compete for success.
