Personal Statement
Ever since I first stepped on the ice at the age of two I have wanted to play hockey. I have been with the same organization my whole hockey career, Northern Kentucky Youth Hockey Association (NKYHA). I started at tykes and played all the way through bantam. I made the high school varsity team as a freshman. This past season, my junior year, I was named assistant captain. I showed leadership by putting together off-ice workouts for my team. I played forward until half way through my junior year after one of my teammates got into a car accident. My couch asked me to drop back to defense, this is where I began to strive. I became a shutdown defense-man who isn’t afraid to sacrifice my body and make shot blocks. Though playing hockey I learned how to be a team player and how to be a leader. Also, I learned to never give up. When we were playing in the state championship game, we are down one to zero going into the third period. We came out and scored three goals in one minute to change the momentum of the game. We ended up winning five to one.
I know I can play at the next level and will bring a lot to your team. I have a unique ability to anticipate where the puck and play will be. This helps a lot when I penalty kill. I want to finish high school with a 3.6 GPA or higher. I am planning to pursue physical therapy in college and want to minor in business.
