Personal Statement
Ever since I was about nine years old, I have dreamed of being a collegiate athlete. I started skating when I was just two years old and began playing organized hockey when I was five. I played with Westfield Youth Hockey until I was eight , then started playing travel hockey with the Springfield Jr. Pics when I was nine. I've played travel hockey ever since. I currently play for the Springfield Pics Juniors organization, on the 16U team, which is in the USPHL.
I consider myself a true team player. I'm a defensive minded forward. I truly believe that hockey is a passing game, with interchangeable parts and everyone participating in the play. I tend to think somewhat mathematically in terms of my positioning in relation to the other players and the puck. I'm a three zone player and feel that all zones are equally important. Assisting a teammate is just as satisfying to me as scoring a goal myself. I'm a very coachable player and strive to work hard in both practices and games. I try to do my best at what is asked of me. Aside from playing with the 16U Pics, I am one of a few players that have been asked to skate with the 18U team as well.
I'm a good student and plan to go to college. All my hockey experience and hard work is preparing me to be a collegiate student athlete. What I look for in a college is a good reputation, and a sense of community. I don't know exactly what I would like to major in yet, possibly business or physical education, but hopefully I'll find a college that has a variety of majors I might be interested in. I'm ready for the next level.
