Personal Statement
Austin Marini, I’m a hard working individual who brings my work ethic to the ice, weight-room and classroom. What differentiates me from the other players, I see the entire ice surface. I can see the play before it happens and set myself up to deliver the results that that coaches and other players want and expect. I know what the coaches expect and I deliver. I take control of the situation and make things happen.
I envision my college years to be a personal growth. My goal is to explore a major that will position me well later on in life. On the ice, I plan to be a dynamic player and positive influence on the team. As I grow both physically and mentally throughout my hockey career, I will strive to be an asset to any hockey team. Most importantly, I will conduct myself with honor and respect on and off the ice, knowing that the way I carry myself reflects on my family, my team, my coaches and the school I attend. My loyalty and respect to the coaches as a prospective student-athlete who is the COMPLETE PACKAGE.
Through 15 years of hockey with Lovell/Boston Advantage Hockey, South Shore Kings and now the Hartford Jr. Wolfpack, I have gained insight that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. One of the most important lessons that I have learned is to always focus on the next point.
To succeed in school, sports and life I need to make certain sacrifices to realize my ambitions. Whether it is pushing a little harder in practice or putting in that extra hour of studying at the school, being a student athlete has helped me learn how to prioritize my goals in order to achieve those that are most important to me.
- I have the athletic tools to impact a worthy college program.
- I am hoping to drive your program to a higher level.
These are some of the qualities that I possess: loyalty, dedication, an impact player for the team, I am a strong link in the teams chain.
If you are given a choice between a hockey prospect who’s statistics are off the charts, but who could be a potential “loose cannon” on the inside of the team, compared to a solidly skilled athlete who offers the potential to lead the team from the inside, a good coach will support the underdog. Team leadership offers intangible growth at the core of the program but it also offers consistent team momentum…with me the ship always remains on course and that will be winning.
I have received an academic scholarship from Catholic Memorial for my entire four years of high school.
