Personal Statement
My name is Nolan Kare, and I am a 18 year old hockey goalie from Romeo, MI. Hockey is an extremely big part of my life, with all of my family members going on to play at the collegiate level, as well as a cousin in the NHL. I am very dedicated both on and off the ice. On ice, I recieve personal goalie coaching regularly from Chris Piku and Eli Wilson, both of whom coach professional goalies. Off the ice, I spend my summers training at 2SP Sports Performance working on hockey specific skills and abilities. I also train during the season at local gyms. Also during summer I do my best to attend anything possible to both help me get better, and expose me to coaches from junior and college levels. In summer I skate with TPH hockey working with some of the states best hockey players. I also attend many goalie camps to improve my skills.
My greatest success so far was leading my team to a 2016 state championship. Starting every single game, I lead the state in wins, and ranked very highly in both save % and GAA. I have been all-conference times, won a regional champion 3 times, and went all state once. I was also voted the 2016 goalie MVP by Mlive.com.
One of my strongest areas is in the classroom. I maintain a 3.7 GPA at Romeo High School. I also received a 29 ACT score. I have received many student of the month nominations and am involved in many academic clubs, including National Honors Society.
My goal is to play college hockey, using both my academic and athletic skills to get me there. My character and leadership in the locker room is one of my strongest abilities as a hockey player, and I would be a great asset to any team looking for close relationships and brotherhood. I love the game of hockey and will not stop working towards my goal until I know I have done all that I can.
