Personal Statement
Hi my name is Josh Mckeel, I live in Dewitt, Michigan and go to Lansing Christian School. I'm in my Senior year of high school and I like fishing, hunting, riding ATV's, dirtbike's, and snowmobiles. I also love to play the guitar and my favorite type of music is classic rock. If I had to choose a favorite band it would be AC/DC. I like playing guitar at church for the church's worship team. Some other hobbies I have are rock climbing and working out, obviously for hockey.
I would like to play at the highest level possible in hockey, that being the NHL. I'm taking smaller steps to get there and one of those steps is to play in the USHL and go to a community college while I'm there to get my prerequisites out of the way. After that I would like to go and play D1 college hockey for any D1 team in the nation. My next goal would be to go play in the AHL and then the NHL.
Obviously it's very hard to get into the NHL so I have a plan on what I would like to do with a degree. I am interested in being a sports medicine doctor/bench doctor for a professional hockey team or any sports team. Another job I'm considering is going into law enforcement, also it would be becoming a U.S. Marine and serving our country to protect the freedom of our country. Part of me wanting to serve is because of all the crazy things going on in the world right now, but also because my dad is a U.S. Air Force veteran. Due to him being in the military I've lived may different places. I was born in Lansing michigan at sparrow hospital, when later we moved out to Mt. Home Idaho, then Tokyo Japan, shiloh Illinois. We were then going to be stationed in Alaska but my dad had a brain tumor which forced him us to move back to the lansing area. So we are still here now and luckily the tumor was nothing harmless. He is now a doctor at sparrow hospital as an OBGYN doc.
Anyways back to hockey. Some key things I would say about myself is that I will always give you over 100%. I love challenges and I love to work as hard as I possibly can every shift. My major strong suit in hockey is definately my speed and carrying the puck with that speed. I will say that I'm not much has of a goal scorer but I'm definately a play maker and I'm able to make plays to set people up for a pass to score.
