Personal Statement
Some call it being a late bloomer. I call it hard work and determination. Year after year I clicked refresh on the browser only to find I didn’t make the top team. I thought my second year of Bantams was finally the year, only to be disappointed again. That night was really hard. But I knew I wasn’t going to give up. I continued to pushed myself on and off the ice. I changed my approach, set new goals and focused more on preparation. That year I finished with 79 points and factored in 62% of my team’s goals. The next year I made the high school team and have since become a leader in and off the ice by example of my determination. The work has paid off. I was awarded Honorable-Mention All Conference last year.
The adversity early in my career has Built the player I am today. I have developed a work ethic and compete level that That fortifies me for academics, sports and life. I have discovered that failing is not a bad thing and does not define who you are. It can drive you to grow and make you stronger.
I am determined and passionate about becoming the best. I am a smart, physical, two-way player who knows how to create the play and find the net. My coaches say that I am the kid that makes everyone who plays with me better.
The same life lessons I applied to sports I applied to my studies. I employed a new dedication and discipline to my academics. I realized I have a passion for business and accounting. Ideally, I would like to major in Business, Accounting or Sports Management and get my law degree so that I can become a Sports Agent or work in senior management for a sports franchise. I am proud that after a lackluster first year of high school, I have moved my GPA the last two years to 3.7.
Success is not achieved I just hoping for it. You need the right attitude, the will to set goals and the discipline to carry them out. I am energized by my success and I am determined and passionate about becoming the best I can be in hockey. I see a bright future for me straight ahead.
