Personal Statement
Dear Coaches,
Beginning at seven years old, when I began playing hockey I dreamed of playing College Hockey. Throughout my years of playing the sport, it has always been in the back of my mind. I played for the Minuteman Flames from 2012-2019, and switched to the Islanders in 2019. I am now part of the Islanders U15 USPHL Premier Team. The schedule at this level has developed my ability to time manage and balance homework, school, and athletics and continue to maintain a 3.8 GPA since Freshman year. The majority of my classes are all honors classes both Freshman year, and now in my Sophomore year attending Algonquin Regional High School.
I have a great deal of passion, commitment and integrity for the game. I believe that every time you step onto the ice, be better than you were the last time you played. I believe it is very important to establish long-term goals, as well as short-term goals, and to write them down. Writing them down makes them tangible, and is a motivator behind the work you put in to reaching your goals. Coaches have mentioned my respect, hard working attitude and drive being great values of mine. I also believe in making your teammates better, by always giving it your all, and showing a positive attitude and always giving your teammates, your coaches, and yourself everything you have. It is very important to me to be respectful of coaches, parents, teammates and the opponent. I am very open to new strategies, game-plays and I like to know what I can improve upon.
One of my values that sets me aside from other players is my desire to get better. I would love to win every game I play, however what matters most to me is if I played to the standard others and I hold myself to, and if my team and I played a team game, and to the best of all of our abilities.
I hope to play hockey at the next level, and continue to pursue hockey dreams, while maintaining grades, and attending college. I am excited to work towards my long and short-term goals, as well as advance through school with a good GPA. I hope to leave a great impression, of a respectful, hard working person, wherever I go in life.
