Personal Statement
My name is Michael Cerrone. I am a Senior at Chaminade High School in Mineola, New York. I am a center and left wing on the Chaminade Varsity Hockey Team. I am also a right winger, left winger, and center on my club team. I have cherished both of these teams and have been lucky enough to have been playing with my teammates and coaches. Hockey is a sport that teaches many life lessons. Personally, it has taught me to persevere through the odds that have been stacked against me. It has helped me to learn patience, discipline, and self-control. I've learned what it takes to play the sport and the personal sacrifices that must be made. Other than family and school, hockey is the most important thing to me. Family comes first. Without their support, I would never have made it this far in hockey, school, and life. Chaminade is a very disciplined honors school. It has given me the tools for every day life and helped me grow into the man I am today. I am very proud to be part of the Chaminade family.
In hockey, I am extremely busy. I have practices at a minimum of 4 days a week, whether on ice or off and, I have at least three games every weekend. I put all my effort into playing and it shows on and off the ice. Many people I play with look up to me for my optimism and hard work. I try and push everyone I play with to their limits and farther, because they do the same for me. My skill has greatly developed over the years and I look to improve even more and keep on doing this throughout the years in my life whether in hockey, school, or work. I hope to be able to continue to play competitive hockey in college and beyond. I am dedicated and will give my all to anyone I play for.
