Personal Statement

I am a dedicated student athlete with the goal of playing college hockey while earning my degree in business administration, sports management or exercise science.  I completed my second season with the Tahoe Icemen in the WSHL where we finished second in the Northwest Division and lost to the number one seed in the Division Finals.  Before that I played for the Potomac Patriots USP3 Junior Hockey team in the USPHL and the Washington Little Caps U16 AAA in the 2014-2015 season.   For the 2018 - 2019 season I will be returning to play with the Potomac Patriots.

Hockey has been my passion all my life.  I am a team player and will do whatever necessary to help make the team successful.  I am a physical, shutdown defenseman.  I make smart breakout passes, have an accurate shot from the point and am a good shot blocker.  I am also strong on the penalty kill and most often work directly in front of the net to tie up the shooters and clear the crease.

Though my primary position is defense, I was asked by my high school coach to play center instead because we were short on offense.  I did what was needed for the team and tallied 21 goals and 10 assists in 9 games in the 2015-2016 season.  Mickey Lang, the head coach of the Tahoe Icemen, also asked me to play forward for four games last season.  I played as a first line wing creating traffic in front of the net.  I am a versatile player and always put the team first.

I am determined to do what it takes to make my dream a reality.  I appreciate any opportunities to play college hockey.
