Personal Statement
UPDATE, for the coming season 2023-2024, I will be the Goalie Coach for the Castleton University (now Vermont State University) Spartans Men's Ice Hockey team, working under Coach Richards. I continue to work for Alexander Goaltending in Moncton during their summer camps, teaching goaltenders. https://castletonsports.com/sports/mens-ice-hockey/coaches
After being offered a very nice academic scholarship from Castleton University, I decided to go to school in August 2021 instead of pursuing junior hockey in a Covid environment that required flying into the US for every camp or waiting until the fall for postponed Canadian camps to start. I walked on with the NCAA team at Castleton, spent a month with them and was cut the final day, then continued last season doing goalie analysis for their team. I will be back at it again this season, and have been asked to do the same for the women's team. I did quite well academically my first year, making the Dean's list first term and the President's list second term. My academic goal is to become an Athletic Trainor and to coach goaltenders.
My goal is to play as high a level as possible, as long as possible, hopefully including junior and college hockey. I would like to play junior hockey after my senior year, somewhere in Canada or the US, as a precursor to playing at the NCAA level.
For over five years, Colin has been a student at our various summer camps, clinics & our training facility. We have always found him to be polite, well mannered, and dedicated, as shown by the distance he travels foreach training session etc. His work ethic is always consistent bringing a high level of intensity every time.He is a very competitive individual & always looking to improve. He is always punctual and, in fact, generally arrives well in advance which time he uses in pre-session preparation. He carries out instruction with minimal supervision or guidance & asks questions to ensure he understands what is expected of him.He is generally outgoing & gets along well with coaches & students. From conversation, it appears he has defined goals in relation to education and personal interests and has a plan in place to achieve both. I suggest Colin would be a positive addition to any scholastic or sports program suited to his skill level, and, given his personality, could quickly integrate into any new environment.
