Personal Statement

I will be a good candidate for a college team because I always do my best to be a model student on and off the ice.  I strive to be a positive role model to the younger and less experienced players.  I feel that being a team member is essential to being successful.  I am a hard worker and always give 100% in working on becoming a better player.

We have a very young team and our winnings do not truly give an accurate picture of our capabilities.  I was elected team captain this year and I am working hard to mentor and devise ways to improve our success rate over the next two years.  I am pretty well-rounded in most areas.  I see the importance of working hard towards getting good grades and I understand that my education needs to be a priority.

I am very competitive when it comes to excelling at my hockey abilities. Hockey is truly my passion and I never give up, playing hard to the end of each and every game.  I have been skating since I was two and playing hockey since I was five years old, I have studied the rule books of  USA Hockey and serve our community by being a referee for the squirts, peewees and bantams.

Even though the ending goal may be to win, the steps taken to get there are just as important such as, sportsmanship, skill building of continually increasing my speed, endurance, stick handling, passing, and following the plan that my coach has for me and the team is the key.

I have been told that I have a good sense of where the puck is and try to position myself to where it will be next when it is not under my control. I believe that I will be a great candidate and asset to a college team after graduation.
