Personal Statement
My Name is Soren Cooley and I play a little hockey. I have been playing for the last 8 years and hockey is by far my favorite sport. I have participated in many sports over the years, but hockey is what drives all that I do. This year (2016) I have been billeting and playing with the Colorado Rampage U15 Tier 1 AAA Elite in Monument, CO. In the past I have played for The West Coast Renegades Tier I AAA U14, Team Wyoming, Western Wranglers AAA (Rapid City, SD) and my local team (Sheridan Hawks WAHL). Being from a small town in Wyoming has given me a unique outlook on life. I have come to realize that if I want to play at the highest levels, I will have to move away from my family for part of the year to achieve this goal. By moving away and living with a different family I have learned to be more responsible than most kids my age. Academics have always been important to me and I work hard to maintain my grades even with the demands of practice and traveling to showcases. These situations have helped to make me more mature and given me a better understanding of how the world works.
Many coaches have told me that I have really strong "hockey sense". I get along with coaching staffs very well and listen to and implement what they teach me. I strive to please and be the best player I can be. I'm not a flashy star type of player. I fit well in the blue collar, dependable and solid player role. I thrive in and love the physical challenge of not only on ice training, but dry land training as well.
