Personal Statement
PROUD TO ANNOUNCE MY COMMITMENT TO UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND. Go Terps!
As a scholar and an athlete, I am always competing for the highest marks and the best stats - on and off the field. My hope is to play highly competitive lacrosse, at a University known not just for their lacrosse program, but also for the quality of education I will receive there.
The physicality and the skill needed to play lacrosse at a highly competitive level is what got me hooked on lacrosse. Over my five years in the sport, I have traveled back East and competed with the best competition, been fortunate enough to be selected as an all-star in many tournaments, and led most of my teams in goals and assists.
As a freshman in high school, I started on Varsity and was one of the leading scorers, despite missing part of the season due to an injury. Now, as a sophomore, I have been selected by my peers and upper class men to be their leader as team captain.
As a multi-sport scholar athlete, with former D1 lacrosse players as my coaches (Jimmy Borell, Captain, Maryland University & Brock Livingston, Delaware University), I have learned the dedication and commitment required for the best athletes to continuously improve themselves. I have seen the hard work pay off, with my ability to score multiple goals every game. I have also developed as a team player, focused on enhancing my field vision, which has increased my number of assists.
Last year I went through a tough situation. Through the first seven games of my Freshman season, everything was going great. I was second in scoring on my team, trailing Jack Doyle, a senior midfielder committed to St. Johns. In my eighth game, I scored two goals in the first three minutes before fracturing my collar bone. The doctor said that I would most likely be out for the rest of the season. I saw my therapy as a challenge. I attacked physical therapy everyday so I could make it back for end of the season. Fortunately, hard work and a positive attitude again paid off. I made it back and helped my team get the win in our last game of the season, scoring a goal and dishing out two assists.
My work ethic in the classroom and on the field, combined with my love of the game give me confidence I can compete at the highest level.
