Personal Statement
I hope to be recruited to play lacrosse in college to compete at as high a level as possible and to better myself as a goalie. I have the drive to put in the extra effort to improve my skills and techniques further, as well as to help contribute towards my team's success. Mostly, however, I simply love lacrosse and playing goalie more than anything else in the world.
On the field, I am the voice of the defense, organizing and instructing players on match-ups, calling out ball positions, deciding formations, and leading clears to initiate the offense possessions. I use the important leadership skills I learned from lacrosse in other aspects of my life as well, an example of this being my leadership role in Youth and Government. Y&G is a model legislature and court, and I participate as a bill chair leader as well as a head defense attorney within the program. Again, discipline, communication, and determination are key in my leadership roles, both on and off the field. My academic accomplishments mirror the hard work and discipline I dedicate to playing lacrosse.
I believe all persons should engage in giving back through community service. I have been involved in volunteering for the Westside Thanksgiving Dinner for the Homeless (2009-2016); Big Sunday Day of Service, Los Angeles (2009-2016); USPS Letters to Santa Program (2007-2016); Portland Whales Lacrosse Cancer Fundraiser (2014-2016); volunteer youth lacrosse coaching (2014-2016). I feel a strong sense of obligation to share my blessings and give back to those in need as well as growing the game of lacrosse.
