Personal Statement
I have been playing lacrosse since I was 7 years old and fell in love with the sport. While I play many sports, lacrosse is my favorite and I have competed at the highest level around the country. I have been fortunate to have played for many amazing coaches. Most have played in college including several All Americans. I know that playing in college is a once in a lifetime opportunity that could change my whole life.
My coaches consider me a very unselfish player equally involved in scoring or assisting a goal for one of my teammates. Also, I compete for every ground ball or to create a defensive stop. My work ethic is very strong and I enjoy practicing, lifting and watching film. I have excellent stick skills using both hands and have quick feet. I am a team leader and try to lead by example while also encouraging my teammates. I am very coachable and strive to be one of the hardest working players and one of the hardest working recruits you’ll find.
In the classroom, I study hard and maintain a high GPA. I also volunteer at local youth camps and homeless shelters like Denver Rescue Mission.
I want to attend a college where I can push myself in the classroom and in lacrosse. I am open to all options and want to ultimately find the right college match at the highest level of competition possible. I hope to become a great role model to all my peers and make my parents proud.
Thanks,
Grant Nelligan
