Personal Statement
Hi my name is Liam Clune
My dream is to be able to receive a great education while being able to play lacrosse. I have been playing lacrosse for six years now and I just recently switched to the long stick midfielder position while playing on my summer ball team. My coaches have all agreed that I made the switch seamlessly and they said that I was a natural at my new position. I have fallen in love with the sport of lacrosse, if I am not playing it I am at the gym, or watching game tape. Since I just recently switched positions, I know that I am slightly behind the other defensive players of my class since they have had more time with their positions but I have dedicated myself to the learning a new position. The most important thing to me is my education because I know that playing sports only lasts so longer before you have to become a true part of the work force. My current goal is to study biology for my undergraduate degree and then to go to a physicians assistance program for my graduate program. In school I have always challenged myself by taking AP courses and high honors level courses, to best set myself up for a successful future in biology, health science field. Outside of school and lacrosse, I am an active member in my local Boy Scout troop and a volunteer for the homeless. In scouts I have recently receive the honor of Eagle Scout and last year I was the Senior Patrol Leader, which is the boy who runs the entire troop of boys. Multiple adult leaders have told me that I am a natural leader. Along with scouts, I volunteer my time by collecting cans and recycling them, then using the money from the cans to help buy needed items for a local homeless shelter. The volunteer work for the homeless shelter caused me to be nominated for the 2015 Liberty Bank Youth In Action Awards.
