I believe that grades do not reflect a person's full intelligence. I have always had good common sense and school-smart, but in high school I did not apply myself the way I should have. I slacked off and didn't capitalize on my four years of education and by the time I realized the place I had put myself, it was too late. If you look at my high school transcript, the numbers will show an average to below average student. I am not average or below average. I was simply lazy and oblivious to what I was doing to myself by not reaching my full potential. As all of my friends and my whole senior class was applying to college, I felt self conscious because everyone was applying to great schools, while I was struggling to find a school that I could get into with my grades. I decided to go complete a postgraduate year at Bridgton Academy to raise my grades and learn proper study habits. In the few months that I have been at Bridgton, I have accomplished things I never thought I would be able to do. I have matured as a student and now I understand the value of an incredible education. My performance here at Bridgton could give an example of what I should have accomplished in high school, when I was lazy and unaware of the opportunity I was wasting. I hope that everyone can look past my unappealing high school performance, and realize that I am an entirely new young man after coming to Bridgton Academy.
