Personal Statement
My name is Justin Sanzari and I am in my senior year at Holy Cross High School in Waterbury, CT. I have been playing Lacrosse for 6 years and play for the Holy Cross Lacrosse Varsity team. Our program fielded its first Varsity team last year and I contributed tremendously as a starting LSM. As a result of my efforts last season, I was selected to the All Conference Team.
Right now I am working out with my High School team and playing full games in an indoor league until the spring season. I am also working on my strength and conditioning every week.
Last summer I played for Unparalleled Lacrosse and attended the Blue Chip 225 camp at Bryant College. My Unparalleled team competed in the Maverick Big Time Shoot Out in Port Washington, NY on June 22. We also competed in the Hofstra Classic June 22 and 23rd at Hofstra University.
Although I am greatly improving my offensive skills each year, I am a very strong defensive middie with excellent speed and defensive skills. Transitioning from defense to offense is my strength as I can quickly set up our offense for attack. This is why my coach has put me in the LSM role which has allowed me to maximize my developing talents.
For my first three years of high school I have also lettered in Cross Country and am currently one of the top three runners on our team having made the All City Team this past fall. I believe the cross country training has significantly helped me become a work horse lacrosse player who can out run and out hussle most players. I also have also lettered the past two seasons in Indoor Track with mid distance races and long jump being my strongest.
In the classroom I am improving my GPA each year and continue to work harder with my studies. I also am very involved with the Theater and Music programs at my school. I have been in 5 High School and several community theater productions in the past three years. I have had leading roles in many of these. As a result of my performances, this spring, I was nominated for the prestigious CT High School Theater Halo Award. And, for the second year in a row, I have been selected to be a part of the Holy Cross Chamber Choir and Cross Tones vocal group.
I am striving to play Lacrosse for a DII or DIII program where I can bring my team focused approach to higher levels. I would also like to develop academically as well as socially so I can pursue the career of my choice. Currently, I am most interested in a career in Acting, Physical Education or Sports Management but I am open to experiencing College life to the fullest and to the opportunities my education will offer me.
