Personal Statement
It wasn't until I discovered lacrosse during my junior year of high school that I was passionate about playing a sport and determined to master it to the best of my ability. Having traveled around the US with my parents for their occupations, I moved to Evans, GA to begin 11th grade at Greenbrier High School in August, 2015.
I had grown up playing ice hockey in other states. Although I had never picked up a lacrosse stick before moving to GA, I was determined to learn the sport because I craved something more than an academic experience for my last two years of high school. I practiced hard and constantly for tryouts and as a result, I made the Varsity team.
The day before my first Varsity game, my Athletic Director informed me that I was not going to be allowed to play Varsity ball. Georgia High School Association migratory student rules disallowed me from playing Varsity, even though I had earned my spot on the team. As a result, I remained on the Varsity roster, but was only allowed to play JV games during the 2015-16 season.
I started for the JV team and was named the Offensive MVP during my first season of lacrosse. I also discovered that I had a bit of natural talent for face-offs, and won 87% of my 46 during my first season. I attribute some of my successes on the field to my 10 years of playing ice hockey prior to moving to GA.
My personal goal is to be recruited to a DI, DII or DIII college - hopefully with a scholarship - to play lacrosse while I am earning my degree in either Computer Programming or Nuclear or Robotic Engineering.
