Hi my name is Daniel Burkhalter. I’m currently a senior at Mandeville High School in Mandeville, Louisiana. I am 18 years old. I am 5’11” and 185 Ibs. I run the 40 yard dash in 5.2 seconds. I am currently involved in Band and Lacrosse. My top priority is getting the best education I can to prepare for my future. School has always been important in my life. I’ve always strived to perform my best in my classes, always reached for the highest grade on my class work, and asked questions to grasp as much information as possible. Learning has been something I’ve enjoyed ever since I can remember. College is something I have been looking forward to for a while, but I am especially looking forward to getting involved in my college once I commit. Besides education, sports and clubs have played a huge role in my life. I have participated in sports since my early childhood years. They have made a tremendous impact on my aspirations in life. I played baseball for many years in my early childhood then moved on to football once I got into junior high. I started Lacrosse my junior year and decided to quit football to fully commit to my high school’s lacrosse team. I do not think I have ever been more passionate about any club or sport, and hope to continue playing Lacrosse in college. In addition to continuing my lacrosse career, I have recently made the choice to join the Army National Guard. The idea occurred to me during my junior year, but it was when a recruiter spoke to one of my classes this year that I knew this was something I wanted to do with my life. I was in awe of the recent community projects and national disaster missions that occurred in my local area due to massive flooding. It was during that presentation that I knew I wanted to have the privilege of giving back to my community. With this being said, I plan on joining the ROTC program if offered on campus. I believe that wherever I end up going to college, I will, without a doubt, dedicate myself to my studies and to cooperating with my peers and professors, as I do in every sport, club, and class. With this being said, I will not be able to enroll into college until the fall of 2018. I will be shipped to Basic and then AIT right after I graduate. Once I am back and ready for college, I will work as hard as I can to earn a spot on your lacrosse team. I never let down my coaches when given a great opportunity and hope you will give me a chance to prove myself that I will make a great addition to your team.
