Graham Wood #3 - ...Personal Statement
I am looking for a strong academic institution with a competitive lacrosse program where I can improve as a player and help my team win.
While I have been a successful high school attackman for the past three years and generated lots of points for my team (#4 in points in Anne Arundel County, MD in 2018), my earlier years in club and select lacrosse helped me prepare for all aspects of the game. Having played competitively everywhere on the field except goalie, I feel I am a well rounded player who values possession, helps on the clear, causes turnovers, and gets ground balls. I always work hard and play physical on the lacrosse field, especially when riding.
A unique thing about my high school varsity team is that we are a very small program that competes in the lacrosse-rich Baltimore and Annapolis region. I have started every game in my high school career and played nearly every minute. My team enjoys the challenge and we fight for the conference title, finishing in the semis for the past three seasons. With a two-goal loss to end our season junior year, I am hungry to get to the championship as a senior and help my team win.
I have always been a top student who values learning and achieves good grades. I am interested in international relations, economics, and writing. I enjoy travelling internationally, experiencing other cultures, and meeting local people. I see that there are many schools with excellent academic programs that match my interests and goals so now I am trying to find the best place to flourish as a student and an athlete while enjoying my college experience.
I want you to know you will be able to count on me in the classroom and on the field.
