Personal Statement
My name is Sawyer Olesko. I am a 2016 midfielder from Grand Rapids, Michigan. My goal is to further my education as a student athlete and be successful playing lacrosse at a college level.
I have a close knit family that is very supportive of whatever I choose to do as long as I give it 100%. I have had to earn 30% of the money required to play with my state travel team. Working for the money to compete at this level has taught me the value of money and hard work. I am currently employed at a local movie theater as well as working for a local landscape company in order to make the money needed. Having had to find jobs and work has taught me many lessons in customer service, preparing my schedule, as well as time management.
I believe I am a great fit for any team because I am very easy to get along with and am an extremely hard worker on the field and in the class room. This year, as team captain, I have learned many valuable lessons. I know the value of a team player over a great player and have tried to lead by example. My greatest accomplishment this year is the leadership role I have taken with my team.
I am a selfless, competitive player willing to do anything to win. Don't get me wrong, I like to score, but take great pride in the amount of assists I have this season. The work involved to get to the next level is a price I am willing to pay for the great experience and satisfaction of playing college lacrosse. I would love to go to college and make a substantial difference in the teams' outcome. I will continue to work relentlessly on and off the field no matter the circumstances. The most important aspect of going to college however is the continuation of my education and pursuing my future career.
