Sports have always challenged me to be the best I can be. Throughout my youth lacrosse career, I have played on select teams and played up an age division to push myself to become the best athlete I could possibly be. Having to play with the older athletes has helped me learn how to stand up for myself, put the team before myself, and realize I do not have to be the best player on the team but the best player for the team.
I have battled adversity fighting for the starting varsity goalie spot my sophomore year. I started the first game that year, but the team struggled, so the coach tried a more experienced goalie the next game and the team thrived. I watched half of the season from the bench and trying my best to prove myself on JV. Because of my hard work, I regained the starting position midway through the season and continued starting through the playoffs, where we made it to the Show-Me Cup state semifinal game. That was quite an honor for me
Pushing myself to be the best I can be does not stay on the lacrosse field, it also translates to the classroom. Through my junior year I have a 3.7/4.0 unweighted 3.9/4.0 weighted GPA with a 31 on the ACT while taking multiple honors and AP classes. Although I am happy with my 31 on the ACT, I am not satisfied with it. I am planning to retake it because I want to be better.
I would love the opportunity to continue playing lacrosse at a college where I can thrive athletically and academically. To be the best student-athlete I can be, it is crucial that both criteria are met. I want to be able to better myself both on the lacrosse field and in the classroom with my teammates and classmates by my side.
