I have watched lacrosse throughout my life and fell in love with the sport the first year i played it. That first year was 5th Grade, and since then I've wanted to keep playing, and get better. After 5th Grade, we moved to North Carolina, where I made it a goal in 7th Grade to go into high school playing on the varsity team. Days of Wall ball and shooting paid off when I successfully made the varsity team. What i quickly learned is that wall ball and shooting was not nearly enough. Strength Training, cone dills, and sprints are what set me different from peers as a freshman. Work ethic is what I kept in mind, when I denied party invites. I was not the strongest player as a freshman, but I gained respect and trust from my teammates. This work ethic has brought me to become an all conference player as a sophomore, and now a varsity team captain as a junior.
Another reason I can blame my work ethic, and ability to respond to environmental changes, is the fact that my father is an active duty Military Officer. He was promoted to the Rank of Colonel in 2012, and did I mention hes a Special Forces Green Beret? The military family life is not for everybody. It requires one to not be easily deterred by change, and to adjust quickly in response to that change. You must have trust in your other family members, and you must be a leader. If your fellow peers and teammates look up to you, then you must respond to them by helping and leading them. With this mindset I believe that as a team captain, or as a player, or as a student, you will be successful.
I aspire to play for a college that I love, whether that be Division 3,2, or 1. I strongly believe that College athletics is about the work, the relationships and the joy of playing your sport. College is also not fully about sports, although some of us wish it were! I want to major in either Physics or Mathematics, and minor in something math or science related. Currently I have a 4.41 weight GPA, and I wish to raise it even higher. I've always found ways to challenge my self academically. So I decided to partake in the Rigorous International Baccalaureate Diploma program at my High School. I like a good challenge, both athletically and academically. Work Ethic will set me apart on your team, I will lead men, and I will respect them. I am always hungry for knowledge, and new ways to raise my self above my peers. I am George Sterling.
