Personal Statement
My name is Robert (RJ) Maraski. I currently go to Paul VI high school where I play lacrosse and I also swim for the Swimming team at Paul VI high school in Haddonfield, New Jersey. My current weighted cumulative GPA is 4.1, I take the maximum amount of honors/AP courses at Paul VI that someone in their Sophomore year can take.
I have played lacrosse for 7 years as of April 2017, because of this my knowledge of lacrosse has grown exponentially. I also played many years as an attackmen which has helped me learn common tendencies and several ways to counter them. From this I have experience in all aspects of the game and I can adapt easily in a game situation.
My goals and aspirations from an academic standpoint is to pursue an engineering degree. In middle school, I realized that I enjoy science. I was among 15 selected for a summer program at Lockheed Martin for engineering. Upon entering high school, I looked for advanced/honors courses, especially in math and science, in order to help me achieve my goals. I want to graduate from college with strong job opportunities and believe that I am responsible for getting there.
From a lacrosse standpoint, I want to play at the next level because I enjoy the challenge, have the skill set, and thoroughly enjoy playing lacrosse. My desire is to be on the field, playing the game.
I believe that I stand out from others because I can adapt myself to a situation and am also a very good leader. On the field I am the captain of the defense and my leadership skills allow me to get through to the defense when others may not be able to. I am apart of the peer leadership program at my school and I will be taking classes that will allow me to become a captain for my junior and senior year of play. I find film/video for other forms of defense and have introduced them to my team in order to throw off our opposition and will only lead to more success. My leadership, commitment, and willingness to continually learn and develop myself in lacrosse is what sets me apart from other players.
