Anthony Navas '16 Recruiting Profile

My name is Anthony Navas.  I am a Senior at Center Moriches High School on Long Island.  Spring 2016 will be my fourth year as a Varsity player.  I have been playing travel lacrosse since the summer of 6th grade. I played for the Long Island Stampede (one season) , Team 91 (two years), and have found my home with Team Long Island (four years).  We play year round and are going to a number of high quality tournaments and events this summer.  In July I competed at Champ Camp and the Liberty Bell Challenge with Team Long Island (U17 team) playing Varsity Division against superior quality programs (Dukes, Ridgewood, Evolve, Rock, Riot, Twist, Team Turnpike, Tri-State).  I hone my skills by attending positional camps in the off season and practicing those skills throughout the year. I put as much energy into the classroom as I do on the field. Proudly, I have seen my name on the Principal's List every quarter that I have been in high school. I consider myself a scholar-athlete and have earned admission into the National Honor Society and Foreign Language Honor Society. Hard work, strong moral code and passion inspire me to make good choices on and off the field. I am active in student government and the school drama club.  

I share my love of the game with the little guys I coach in our youth lacrosse program. I encourage them to do well in the classroom and on the field.  When the kids ask how I can be so much fun off the field and so aggressive on the field, I quote Dan Birdwell , DT of Oakland Raiders, who said, "you have to play like somebody just hit your mother with a two-by-four". My desire is to continue playing lacrosse as I pursue my college education.
