Personal Statement
Lacrosse has been incredibly important to me since I discovered the sport late in my 8th grade year. Upon entering 9th grade I asked the coach if I could join the team. Coach started me on a winter team in school. There I learned the basics and practiced with juniors and seniors. I further studied by watching games and you tube videos. The more I learned the more excited and entrenched I found myself in the sport. This is when I realized that lacrosse was reinforcing the ideas and skills I’ve learned in Boys Scouts and United States Naval Sea Cadet Corp.
Lacrosse allows me to be part of a team which has afforded me the opportunity to hone in on my teambuilding skills. I’ve learned how to cooperate with others and accomplish a task while working with others. These skills will take me through the rest of my life. Playing in college will allow me not only to prepare for a future career but also teach me how to be a leader. A leader knows when to listen and when to guide others. The experiences I learn on the field can be taken and used in my academic studies. Once I graduate I will join the United States Navy and the lacrosse experience will allow me to use skills I learned to work as a team member and a leader so I can serve my country
