Personal Statement
My name is Michael Golden a 5'9''/ 170lbs goalie playing for Scranton Prep High School in Pa. As a junior, I was fortunate to have started my third season as goalie on our varsity team. In our inaugural season we as a team went on to post a 7-7 record, and make it to the second round of the District Playoffs. As a player, I was able to secure two shutouts, save %600, GAA 6.92, and as a team surpassed our goals set prior to the season start. The team has a great coach who pushes us to always grow on the day before, which has been the backbone to our success. In my sophomore season I recorded 3 shutouts, averaged 12 saves per game, save percentage% 610, GAA 6.82, total saves 142, and finished the season with All Conference Honorable Mention. Our defense finished 10 overall in the central conference. In my junior season I continued my successful ways with a double digit winning season, capturing a District Title, Team Captain, and second team All Conference Honors, GAA 6.93, with 2 shutouts, average 14 saves per game, and save percentage %620.
I will graduate in the class of 2016. I'm currently exploring opportunities to continue my passion for lacrosse at the college level. With starting my ninth season at the goalie position, it is my hope to play at any division level that will allow me to gain an affordable education, but also to play the game I love. I play ice hockey and golf, but lacrosse and it's rich history is where I want to be in a sport. Using my talents to gain and education is my ultimate goal.
This summer I will be participating in a number of tournament events with Muddy River Lacrosse (NEPA) and Fighting Four Lacrosse Clubs. Events that will include Lehigh Laxfest, 1812 Shootout, Lake Placid, Binghamton Summer Exposure, Keystone State Games, Bay Bridge Brawl, Warrior Summer Sizzle, and a number of individual prospect events.
I'm fortunite to play in the hot bed of lacrosse with some of the best players in the country. I train hard, do my very best in school, and follow what my parents have set as the expectations to being a good person in society. I chose a high school of strong moral character, discipline, and expectation as a student. I believe that will set me apart from other recruits. Whether I'm chosen or not by a school, I can walk away knowing I'm still better for what I've learned in the classroom than on the field.
