I started playing lacrosse eight years ago when my family move to Virginia. I pride myself on feeding teammates who work hard to get open. I also excel at running down ground balls and digging in to get possession, even in tough situations. One thing that separates me from other athletes is my running sprints on the track team during the lacrosse season. This contributes to speed and quickness which I use to blow by opponents on my way to the goal. After a high school season where I contributed to a number one state ranking and competed in the state Prep League finals, I look forward to competing in top club tournaments this summer. My goal is to continue improving my game so that I can earn a spot and compete at a high level in college.
Academically, I am a B student who enjoys physics and writing. I also play violin in the Upper School Strings Orchestra, having started playing in second grade.
One of the things that I am most proud of is my commitment to community service. Over the past three years, I participated in a Saturday morning tutoring program at my school. This afforded me an opportunity to assist economically disadvantaged young boys with their homework. It also enabled me to build relationships with the boys, many of whom have no male adults to look up to. I was also fortunate to be selected by faculty to participate in a a first ever service trip to Hong Kong and Mainland China. On this trip, I had an opportunity to teach young Chinese students while staying with a family in a remote area.
I am now actively researching college options and look forward to selecting a school where I can excel academically while establishing great relationships with students, teammates and faculty. I intend to focus on business and economics and fully expect to attend a highly regarded graduate school down the road. While in college, I look forward to carving out time to continue in my community service efforts.
