Personal Statement
My name is Clint Pearson and I thank you for taking time to review my profile. I hope this statement will make you realize I stand out from other recruits for different reasons and will be a great candidate for your team. I feel my work ethic, character, and leadership abilities are my top qualities.
Coming from a dual military family, I've moved around, dealt with deployments, and learned to keep on going when the going gets tough. I've learned that life can be a struggle sometimes, but you have to keep working at it and never quit. I feel being a 'military brat' has made me a stronger, wiser person who can overcome challenges as witnessed by my increased GPA each year (including an increase of .6 this past school year), while working (coaching swimming, lifeguarding, or landscaping) and playing sports year round. I strive to do better and be better in everything I do. That's why I'm taking difficult classes my Senior year, playing lacrosse all year round, and working out as much as I can. I want to make myself the best I can be.
I also believe in helping others. I do have over 250 hours of community service and am an Eagle Scout; but I simply believe in reaching out to others when they need help. Many of my friends, coaches, clients, teachers, and co-workers say my greatest trait is lending a helping hand when needed and I'm pretty proud of that. For example last year, my Varsity Lacrosse Coach asked me to help lead the team in off-season workouts, so I'm doing just that. We work out at least twice a week and it's really a great experience. This Summer, during a school academic trip to Europe, the lead chaperone asked me (out of 60 other teenagers) if I'd help my peer (who was on crutches) through the miles of walking we had to do each day so I did just that. I'm glad I'm known as someone who would help others as there's many out there who wouldn't even think about helping others and we all need help some time during our lives.
Everything I just mentioned really boils down to leadership. I strive to do what's right each and every day; and plan to continue doing that on and off the field. I strive to go to a university where I can contribute and make a difference like I've tried to do at my high school. I'd like to be a part of a lacrosse team that values hard work, integrity, and a positive attitude; and supports my academic goals. My desired major is exercise science or kinesiology; and I'd also like to be a part of the ROTC Program. After graduation I plan to go into the Army as an Officer and follow in my parents' footsteps.
Thank you for your time.
