Personal Statement
I was eleven years old when I realized I had found “my” sport. I participated in many sports—soccer, baseball, and swimming. I was an excellent swimmer. I had great stroke technique, good starts and turns, but I didn’t love it. It was boring. Then a family friend encouraged my parents to sign me up for a lacrosse clinic. It was during that clinic on very cold day in the fall of 2011 that I found my sport—lacrosse. I signed up to play on a rec team that spring and haven’t looked back.
I love everything about the lacrosse—the work ethic, the teamwork, and the give and take that it requires to be good. Knowing that sometimes being the best player on the field means that you have to give the ball up so someone else can do the better play. I love that lacrosse has taught me the true value of hard work, commitment and team play.
I am a good student and athlete. I work my hard both in the classroom and on the field. I respect my peers, teammates and the sport that I love. I want to take my play to the next level. I want to find a school that will academically challenge me and help me grow as a person both on and off the field. I want a lacrosse program that fits seamlessly into that growth. I want to play for a team that wants its players to succeed both on and off the field. I am willing to work hard to achieve my goals and I know there is a lacrosse program out there to help me achieve those goals.
