Personal Statement
I am a student-athlete, my school curriculum comes first and my rowing second. I started crew in 6th grade, as a coxswain. I would not say I was any less serious about my rowing career as I am now, but I reached a more competitive level of rowing in the past year. I pride myself on my strong work ethic, and possibly an even stronger bond with my team. Before doing anything at practice I ask myself, "Will it make the boat go faster?" My ultimate goal is to be a part of creating a legacy at PVRC. At PVRC we have a team wide goal of “Acceleration.” I want to accelerate my boat, erg scores, academic career, and team culture.
As important as rowing is, many other organizations play large roles in my life. I am a member and former vice president of the Rachel’s Table Teen Board, an organization that aims to eliminate food insecurity in Western Massachusetts. I am the student representative of the Springfield Public Schools Health Advisory Committee. I am a CTeen leader for my local chapter.
As I start to become more exposed to collegiate rowing through websites such as NCSA I have an idea of what I want my rowing career to look like after high school. My main goal in college is to attend a school that has my chosen course of study, is geographically appealing to me, and has both academic and rowing programs that push me to excel.
