Personal Statement
My name is Andrew DePaepe and I am currently 16 years old. I am a junior, and I attend South Anchorage High School. My GPA is a 3.33; however, I am working hard to increase it to a 3.83. I would prefer to attend a college on the western half of the United States; however, I am open to attend colleges that would fit my needs. I want to study business. I inspire to be an excellent student and athlete by working hard on and off the field.
I have been playing soccer since I was 3 years old. I love the sport and I can’t go a day without playing. My favorite position is right mid, but I am a very versatile player. I have played forward and mid. I am just as strong on the left side of the field as I am on the right of the field. I am a very intelligent player on the field. I am fast, and I have a great first touch.
I play for Cook Inlet Soccer Club, 99 Boys Velocity. We are currently the best team in Alaska in our age group. We have been to many out of state tournaments, and we have been very competitive. For example, at The United Cup in Beaverton, Oregon we took first place. We also took first place at U.S Club Regional in Seattle, Washington. We proceeded to Nationals in Chicago, Illinois and came in 3rd place. We ended our season with taking the title of State Champions for our age group. The following spring, our team played up an age bracket in the Comstock Shootout in Carson City, Nevada, and took the championship title.
I also play soccer for my high school team. As a freshman, I made varsity and became a starter after the second game. I played right mid and forward throughout high school. We ended 2nd in our conference and took 3rd in State. I earned a varsity letter and received the Most Improved Player award. Sophomore year we won our conference and came in 2nd at state. I was a starter and a very important player on the field throughout the season.
I look forward to continuing my soccer experience in college. My goal is to play for a Division 1 or Division 2 school that also has a good business.
