Personal Statement
I am a 5'9'' winger/forward from Laguna Niguel,CA and am scheduled to graduate in 2013. This year I will be playing on the U-17/18 Strikers FC Academy team (formerly Irvine Strikers) based in Irvine, CA. Last year I played winger on the Irvine Strikers Academy U15/16 team being coached by Don Ebert scoring 12 goals and leading our team in assists. We lost only one match in our last 15 US Academy games. I previously played club soccer as part of the Coast Soccer League in Southern California for 7 years and led my team in scoring in each of those years. Over this time period, I was named MVP for my age group at Celtic Cup and the Arsenal Winter Showcase. I play comfotably on both the right and left side. In 2010 I was named to the ODP Boys '94 Summer Pool and was awarded Offensive MVP for the varsity soccer team at Dana Hills High School as a freshman. In July 2011 I played for the Southcoast Strikers in the U-17 Premier component of the prestiguous Milk Cup Tournament in Northern Ireland. While in Northern Ireland, our team won 5 matches by the combined score of 16-1, tied Brazil and lost on PK's in the final of our bracket to Tottenham who we previously defeated in the tournament.. My coaches have praised my work ethic, teamwork, athleticisim, decision making and finishing skills. I have been told that I am particularly good at making runs that create space for myself and my teamates and that my speed, vision and quick touch greatly enhance my team's ability to control possession and earn goal scoring opportunities. While I am extremely dedicated to my sport, I also take my studies seriously and recently completed my sophmore year carrying a 3.80 cumulative GPA. I recently took the SAT and scored 1810. Both of my parents graduated from Ivy league colleges and have passed on to me the value of a quality education. I look foward to enrolling at a college with both strong academics and a quality soccer program and intend to maintain a high GPA while having a significant impact on the field. I am flexible from a geographic perspective.
