Javier Vega '16 Recruiting Profile

My name is Javier Vega from Union City California. I am a goalkeeper for Union City Premier United currently ranked 30 in the state and in a platinum tier. I also play for James Logan High School's Varsity Men's Soccer. I have played soccer since I was a little kid, mostly playing defense throughout my whole soccer career. Due to my explosive speed and ball control, my coaches have the confidence to put me anywhere on the field knowing I will give 110%. When I started playing competitive ball at the age of 11, I played outside back then defensive midfield. As the years went on, my team was left without a goalkeeper for quite sometime, until I decided to step up and put some of my goalkeeper skills to work. After 5 months of training everyday and playing goalkeeper in some games, my coaches were surprised on how much I had improved and changed, and I decided that I wanted to be a goalkeeper for the remaining years of my soccer career. Since then I have been training everyday (despise my broken collar bone and thumb injury problems where I had to take long breaks) looking forward to opportunities that can bring success to all the fatigue I put in my training. I am a very communicative player on the field, and from past positions I played I can direct my team easily on the field. 

        Academic wise, I am a scholar athlete with weighted G.P.A's of 4.4 my 1st semester of sophomore year and 4.2 my 2nd semester. Currently taking 2 A.P classes and 1 honors I am looking forward to a successful junior year. I was awarded the superintendents honor roll twice and a N.C.S scholar athlete award.
