Personal Statement

Dear Coach,

Hello, my name is Jack Lion.  I am currently a junior attending San Joaquin Memorial High School located in Fresno, CA.  For the past five years, I have been playing competitive soccer. I am currently a player on the Clovis Crossfire Soccer Club, located in Clovis, CA. I play the positions of outside back, center back and outside mid. We are currently in the National Premier league and so far we have been very successful.   Also, for the past three years I have been playing varsity soccer for San Joaquin Memorial High School as a defender, midfielder and forward. In the 2014-2015 season I received an All-County Honorable mention and was honored with the Coach's Award. I anxiously look forward to my senior year serving as a captain and leading our team to a successful year.

My goal since youth is to play soccer in college and perhaps one day, embark on a professional soccer career.  All of my efforts and training to date has been completed with the hope of playing collegiate.  In college, my goals center on earning a starting position, contributing to my team's success and one day, work my way up the line and become a team captain. Playing soccer is truly my passion and I am dedicated to committing my time and energy to become a major contributing player at the collegiate level.

In the academic arena, my strong academic performance to date demonstrates my ability to excel in the classroom as well.  I believe performing at a high level in academics enhances my competitive capabilities on the soccer field. Additionally, as captain of my soccer team, I whole heartedly embrace my role as leader, motivator, and comrade to my teammates.  In tough situations, I remain calm and ensure my team regroups and treats each point scored against as only a means to win the next ball and hopefully, win the next point. Above all, my teams' success is tantamount to anything else.

On a personal athletic level, I am athletic.  I am fast, agile, have quick reactive reflexes and endurance.  On the field, I possess excellent ball handling skills, top speed, and a keen eye for seeing the field of play.  When it comes to maneuvering, I  jump well (winning most headers) and use my body fairly well while defending.  Most importantly, although I may not be the best player on the team, I am the hardest worker with the biggest competitive spirit on any team.

I would like to discuss with you my goal of joining your team. My contact information is as follows:
