Personal Statement
My name is Benjamin Quinn and I am a Junior at Gunn High School in Palo Alto, California. I am extremely passionate about the sport of soccer and it is my dream and goal to play college soccer at the highest level possible. I have been playing soccer since the age of 7 starting in AYSO and moving on to Club Soccer for the last 5 years.
Currently I am a Left Midfielder for the Premier Level Boys 2000 team with De Anza Force in Cupertino, California. This winter I will play on the Boys Varsity Soccer team at my high school. I played JV my Freshman year and Varsity my Sophomore year.
I am truly dedicated to my sport, and I put many hours of time and effort to be the best I can be. Not a day goes by that you won’t find me on the pitch practicing the one thing I am most passionate about. If I am not at team practice you can find me in my backyard juggling the ball, at a field nearby training hard or practicing with my private coach. I am not just dedicated to playing I find my knowledge of the game to be extremely important and I learn a lot by watching soccer even waking up at 6:00 am to watch my favorite team in Europe
Along with my dedication to soccer I am also dedicated to my school work and maintaining the highest GPA possible. Maintaining good grades and a high GPA can sometimes be a challenge but I never back down from a challenge and am willing to ask for help when it is needed, seeking and maintaining a good relationship with my teachers and utilizing tutorial help when needed.
It is important to me to find a college with a good learning environment where I can get a good education to contribute to my future success while competing in a high level soccer program. I am willing to consider a variety of locations as long as I can play. I haven’t decided on an area of study but have given some consideration to Environmental Education, History and Geography.
Whatever I decide to study and whatever soccer program I am fortunate to play for I know that I will do my very best and be proud of all I accomplish.
