Personal Statement
I am a very enthusiastic and committed person, both in soccer and academics. I generally thrive on competition but I also value good relationships with my soccer teammates and friends. Several of my teachers and coaches have called me a natural leader - being determined to get things done and encouraging others in a group to be part of it. My highly ranked highschool, Henry M. Gunn, gave me the opportunity to also push myself academically. My goal is to be part of a college program where I can continue to challenge myself in soccer and academics, in a math and science related field.
I have played with club teams in California and Germany since the age of 5. In addition, I was one of the only Freshmen to be selected to play Varsity at my High school. At my Stanford Soccer Club United 03B Black team I was trained by my great coaches, Armando Luna and Vava Marques, the USA National Team Futsal Coach. Our team is consistently placing highly and just won the Fall 2019 NorCal State Premier League.
I am a versatile player, with my main position being forward but having assisted the team as an attacking mid and in a defending position if needed. I am known to have an excellent ability to read and react to the field and position myself exactly where needed to score or assist. I currently lead in goal scoring in my team.
During the weekends, I work as a field marshal or soccer referee for various clubs in the area, at all age levels from U10 through U17. During the summer months I assist as a swim coach in training for my swim team.
I am a sports fanatic, with soccer being my favorite longtime passion, but have also played in my Middle school’s basketball A team as well as my local swim team for 7 years.
My experience in the U.S. and in Germany, both on the field and in school, helped me to become a very adaptable person who is able to adjust quickly to new challenges and different group environments.
