Personal Statement
My college goals are to play soccer at the highest level possible while earning a degree in Kinesiology. I have been playing soccer since the age of four and it is truly my passion. I think I will be a benefit to a college soccer team because I am coachable, versatile at positions and I am not afraid of hard work. In fact, I put myself in positions that I know will be difficult so I can challenge myself and become a better player. My high school coach jokes that I am the only player he has ever had who carries his own stack of cones around and about 11 soccer balls in the trunk of my car-just in case practice is cancelled or delayed. In addition, I feel that I am a good leader. I have been captain of both my club soccer team as well as my high school team. Both coaches rely on me to set the tone for appropriate behavior and hard work both on and off the field.
Because of my love for sports, my academic goal is to get a degree in Kinesiology and become a sports trainer. In spite of the long hours I put in on the soccer field, I have made certain that I have kept up with my school work and earned the highest grades possible. I have challenged myself by taking an Honor or AP class each year.
One thing I feel demonstrates my character is that I help my club coach with his younger (U-9) boys team. I not only teach them soccer skills, but set an example for them of what it means to be a teammate and that perseverance will pay off.
