My name is Nate Montequin. I live in Littleton, Colorado. I am currently a Junior at Heritage High School in Littleton. My freshman year at Heritage was a challenging, but successful one. I took 4 Honors classes that year and finished the year with a 3.5 GPA. My sophomore year, I took Honors Algebra II along with A.P. U.S. History. Now, in my junior year, I am taking A.P. Biology, and A.P. European History. I enjoy history along with science, and plan to major in health science, with a minor in biomedical engineering. I thrive in challenging situations and always want to grow and learn, both as a soccer player and as a student.
In the 2015-2016 season, I played for a small club called Riverside. For my club team, I was a captain and played almost every minute in all of my club games. My club team went undefeated, and won the league, going 8-0-0; scoring 26 goals and only allowing 2. As the starting forward for my team, I scored 13 goals out of the 26 and had 6 assists. As a sophomore, during my high school season, I was a starter on JV along with being a captain. My JV team went undefeated in league and only lost one game outside of league play. We went 11-1-3; scoring 25 goals and allowing 11. Out of those 25 goals, I scored 11 and had 4 assists. We won Continental League for the second year in a row, and I was proud to have been a part of the JV team contributing to both of those Continental League wins, as I played JV in my freshman year as well. My sophomore year I was also called up to play Varsity for three regular season games where I scored my first Varsity goal in the first game I played. Our Varsity team made state playoffs and I was asked to join them to play in the state playoffs. We advanced through to the semi-finals, being beaten by the team that went on to win the 2015 State Championship. My junior year, I was a starter on my Varsity high school team, and I am looking forward to my club season starting up.
On the field I believe that I have great finishing ability as is shown by leading my team in scoring. I also have great field vision and am able to help set up other teammates for finishing opportunities. I am very vocal on the field and lead by example. I strive to work my hardest all of the time. I have great aerial ability and excel at set pieces, both taking free kicks and scoring off of corners. I have also had the privilege of playing in many of the well respected Coerver Colorado camps including the Center of Excellent camps. The summer of my freshman year I completed their apprentice program and I was hired to coach at Coerver Colorado. I have been coaching for them for the past 2 years now.
I believe that my best trait, not only on the field, but off the field has been my leadership. I have been captain of my club teams for the past 5 years. I enjoy the role of being a leader because it gives me the chance to not only better myself as a player, but to make the team as a whole better. I also enjoy to help out in the community and I have participated in many Special Olympics Unified Sports events including soccer, basketball, and track and field, where I participate by working with kids with special needs to help them complete sporting events. This year I also volunteered in a program created by a fellow high school soccer player that helped develop soccer skills for area kids ages 7-14. I believe I am an all round strong scholastic athlete and strive to make myself, and other people around me, be the best we can be.
Soccer has been a constant in my life and I look forward to playing in college. I have always set personal goals for myself on the field and put in the hard work to make those goals happen. In college, I want to be able to keep growing as a student so that I am able to have a successful future for myself. As I mentioned initially, my goal outside of soccer is to work in the Health Sciences field. My parents instilled in me the belief that education comes first. With a solid education from college, it is my goal to help others become or stay healthy. I am interested in an education from a college that will help me achieve that goal while offering me great mentors both on the field and off, as well as a community of friends. I look forward to reaching the next level of success on the field and through my studies. I am willing to put in the time and effort to achieve those successes. Thank you for taking the time to read my profile.
