I consider myself a leader regardless of the situation I find myself in. At my previous school I was named captain of my school's varsity team as a freshman. As the youngest member of the team I was entrusted to lead twenty other young men throughout the course of an entire season. I handled the responsibilities of the position as well as the difficulties that came it and led the team to a Western Massachusetts Semi-Final appearance. However, the following year I transferred to Hotchkiss; a school with both more rigorous academics and athletics. Naturally I was not named captain as a sophomore on a strong team with hopes of title contention; however, I was able to lead nonetheless. I took it upon myself to make sure that the freshman felt comfortable in the team setting: that the young Ghanaian who had just moved to America was adjusting, that my teammate from Hong Kong who hadn't establish a friend group yet didn't sit alone at meals. And as I progress through the ranks at this new school I am eager for my responsibilities to grow and am optimistic of a time when I can lead as captain yet again.
