My name is Matthew Rhenals and I was born March 6, 2002 at Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I am Hispanic since my mother was born in Colombia and I am bilingual speaking both English and Spanish. My passion for soccer grew when I lived in Colombia for a short time during my childhood and ever since then I have been playing travel soccer here in the U.S. since 10 years of age. I don't play high school soccer because the high school I attend doesn't have an actual soccer team (McFatter Technical High School, Davie, Florida). However, this doesn't stop me from training every day and putting my maximum effort into my travel team's successes.
The major I am currently deciding to study when I go to college is business, mainly focusing on accounting. My goals in college are to study a major that I most desire or enjoy studying and learning about and then taking this major and turning it into a successful career for the future. Athletically speaking, I want to play soccer at college level and play for a team that can make me a smarter and better player as I learn more about soccer overall. After college, my dream is to play soccer as a professional player.
My main position I play in soccer is as a right winger. I also have the ability to play as a right back or a right wing back, depending on the formation a coach uses. However, I am considered a versatile player and will play any position my coach wants me to play to the best of my ability. My best abilities are that I am a fast paced player, very good on one v one's offensively and defensively, and I have hard work ethic. I have good stamina which allows me to last almost the entire match while giving it my 100% in every game of the season. As a winger, I also have great crossing and shooting abilities when near the opponent's goal.
