Personal Statement
Ever since I was little, I have had aspirations of being a pro athlete. I have always had high standards for myself, whether it is playing soccer recreationally with my friends or taking a test. I've been playing soccer for around twelve years. I play highly competitive soccer on a club team called GPS Florida West Black. We are currently ranked 2nd in the state of Florida, and are on track to win State Cup and beyond. I have also been offered a scholarship by IMG Academy. I have played in many foreign countries including Germany and Canada. I was a previous member of the A.C Milan Jr. Elite team, playing around the country as well as in Italy and Colombia in competitive tournaments and trainings. I placed 2nd in the Jr. Olympics Skills Competition in 2009, making it all the way to California. I made it to the regional pool in the ODP for both Region 3 & 1. I've also trained with the semi-pro club, "SG Quelle", in Nuremberg, Germany. Some of my biggest attributes as a soccer player are my speed and athleticism, my soccer IQ, my touch and control on the ball, and my leadership skills. I have a great knowledge of the game and am able to make quick decisions on the field. I am very skilled on the ball and am able to maneuver around the field. During my youth soccer career, I have been on many club teams. On each of those teams, I am considered the captain because of my good sportsmanship and leadership skills. I am able to adapt to any position on the field, as I play many positions including left-winger, attacking midfielder and center-back. I am very adaptable to the environment on the field.
My academics are another reason that I am a great candidate for collegiate sports. I am a straight 'A' student taking all honors and AP classes, I strive to challenge myself in the academic environment just as I do on the soccer field. My favorite subjects are math and science and hope to pursue these in college and as a profession. My goals and aspirations as a soccer player are to play in Division 1 NCAA, and then get drafted to the MLS out of college, hopefully making my way to Europe. My combination of athletic and academic skills makes me a great candidate for collegiate sports. I hope to attract schools that can provide a great, high-level education and competitive soccer, challenging me to succeed.
