I have been playing soccer since I was 4 years old. While still young, I started to play competitively through soccer clubs. I began to play with the Heartland Soccer Club in Cedar Rapids, IA. In a short while, I was assigned to play with kids a year or two older. After a couple of years, I went to play for Cedar Rapids Soccer Club before moving near Iowa City and joining the Iowa Soccer Club. Once again, I was designated to the team that contained older kids. I currently play for Dakota Alliance in Sioux Falls, SD where I play on the U19 club.
I have playing varsity soccer since I was a freshman. In Solon, I was an outside midfielder and earned a starting spot after a short time. Though I moved to Orange City in the middle of the soccer season my freshman year, I earned a starting spot once again after a couple of weeks. As a junior, I was named team captain for the MOC-Floyd Valley high school team. As a senior, I m expected to lead the team in setting up the offense and scoring as well. I have experience playing both midfielder, wing and occasional forward.
Primarily, my position has been an attacking midfielder. The coaches have always liked to run the offense through me and tell me that I have a great intelligence for the game. Even as a underclassman, I was looked to be the general out on the field. I rarely make bad decisions and see the field well. I quickly recognize passing lanes and scoring opportunities. Ball control and assists were part of my early high school career, but will have more scoring responsibility in my last year of high school. I am the consummate teammate, spreading the touches in order to break the defense down.
I look forward to playing collegiate soccer. The hard work and dedication that I commit to the game is the same effort that I put toward my academics. While I'm somewhat undecided on my major, I'm leaning toward business with a concentration on marketing or sports management.
